All about Sidetrack I....
|
The Sidetrack I is a professionally designed “West Coast Troller”, built on the Victoria waterfront in 1963 for commercial fishing. It was renovated solely with charter fishing in mind and went through rigorous scrutiny and thousands of hours of work to make it a charter-friendly vessel. The hull is 2” yellow cedar planks on oak ribs; the decks are fir and its interior is mahogany. Power is supplied by a Volvo MD70 diesel engine turning a stainless steel shaft connected to a 30” brass propeller. On board instruments includes three VHF radios, three sounders, two GPS navigation systems, a chart plotter, a 16 mile radar, an auto pilot, and to keep the wheelhouse nice and warm, a diesel stove. Safety equipment on board includes a digital “distress” radio, a fume/fire/high water alarm system, an engine compartment fire suppression system, six water pumps c/w float switches, heat detectors, portable fire extinguishers and a 16 man self inflating liferaft. There is Dept of transport approved lifejackets for all aboard and for client convenience, a galley, a head (washroom) and bunkbeds. Specifically designed and constructed to navigate the Pacific West Coast waters, it gives all aboard a sense of comfort and safety. A more secure and enjoyable experience is hard to find. Fishing on board the SIDETRACK I is a true West Coast experience. | ||||||||||
